This is the progress I have made up until now. I have been working on this plane off and on for a while and things are starting to come together pretty well.

The first pic is of the wing being fiberglassed. Not really much to see.

The next series of pictures is the addition of the plastics. I have already attached the exhaust stacks which you will see in a photo later on down. I thought I would go into a little detail on how I installed the gun plastics.

First I had made an outline of each gun plastic.

Then I measured from the edge of the plastic to the edge of the indention that makes up the gun slit and drew that inside of the outer ring.

The interior drawing was the piece I had to cut out. I rough cut it out with a burr and then used a small dremel round sander to finish it off.

I then used a dremel routing bit to make an indention into the wood on the outer edge so that the plastic would fit in level with the wood.

I then proceeded to use bondo finishing putty to fill in the the existing crack around the outer edge and then I sanded it down. I then installed the side scoops and used these to my advantage by cutting a hole inside the scoop to allow for more air flow inside the engine compartment.

Here is the finished product minus some sanding around the plastics. Looking more like an ME109!

Louis,
Is the finishing putty a squeeze and use tube or is it a two part mixture like epoxy.

It is the squeeze tube not the two part mixture. I remember you asked a while back about keeping the balsa wood putty from cracking. I think this would be an excellent substitute for fillets or other large areas that you want to cover. I am not sure about the weight but it sands off just as easy as balsa putty.

Hey Louis, it is really looking good.  The 109 has a very distinctive shape, and I think you are nailing it, definately in the cowl, nose area.  What are you guessing for all up weight?
A crisis is a terrible thing to waste.

Well actually I weighed it last night and either my scale is wrong which is possible or it weighs 18lbs as it is in the picture with the landing gear installed.

Great job, Louis.  I like all the little "humps and bumps" on the 109.  How far are you planning to go on the details?

It will have the cockpit kit installed, panel lines, and rivets. I have never put panel lines or rivets on a plane and since this plane is so huge I figure it would not look right without them.

Well I have the engine on the plane and started it today! It was a little fustrating at first but after I figured out the throttle requirements I got it started pretty easy. I also weighed it today with the engine, receiver, batteries, and servos. It came in at 26lbs dry.
Also is this engine supposed to smoke if so it did not which mean that either I do not have enough oil in my gas or the needle is off. Any suggestions??
